Boris Johnson announced new measures for England, in response to the
Omicron variant. News rules will come into effect starting from this
Friday (10 December) and these include:
· face masks will be mandatory for most indoor public
settings such as shops, public transport, cinemas, and places of worship
· from 13 December, people should work from home where possible
· from 15 December, an NHS Covid Pass, or a negative lateral flow test, will be required to enter nightclubs and venues with large crowds of over 500 to 10,000 people
The government hopes that Christmas celebrations can still go ahead as long as these new rules are followed.
