About the School
Shebbear College is a through-train school which believes that pupils will succeed in its happy school atmosphere and pupil-centered curriculum. Also, as a small size school, teachers will know each pupil individually to discover their own spark.
Shebbear has recently been graded the highest possible grade of “Excellent” in two key outcomes of the ISI school inspection 2021 - the pupils’ academic and other achievements, and the pupils’ personal development.
Boys and girls aged from 8 to 18 can choose to board termly or weekly. Flexi boarding is also offered to better suit the needs of different families. Apart from school activities in the evening of normal school days, boarders can also enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities, house competitions and regular local trips during weekends.
Exam Results and University Destinations
In 2021, at GCSE, 20% of the grades achieved were 9, 42% were 9-8, and 52% were 9-7. At A-Level, 31% of the grades achieved were A*, 63% were A*-A, and 83% were A*-B, with a pass rate of 100%. Also, 50% of all BTEC grades are Distinction* to Distinction.
In 2021, the vast majority of the pupils secured places at their first choice of university. They went on to pursue a huge range of subjects including Medicine, Physics, Business Management and Computer Science at Russell Group and other top universities.

Shebbear is committed to teach outside the classroom with their Outdoor Education programme. Pupils are offered adequate opportunities to enjoy the natural world, experience new challenges and take controlled risks. Various activities include bushcraft, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the Ten Tors Challenge, mountain biking, and orienteering.
