About the School
The Royal Grammar School, Guildford is a leading independent day school with more than 500 years of tradition and heritage. They foster an academic boldness that is the prerequisite to curiosity and creativity.
In the Sixth Form, each student is placed in a tutor group of about 12 students for the two-year period in which the tutor will help to ensure a smooth transition into the Sixth Form and to support students fulfilling their full potential.

Exam Results and University Destinations
In 2021, at GCSE, 74.8% of the grades were 9, 89.7% were 9-8, and 96.2% were 9-7. At A-Level, 77.3% of the grades were A*, 94.9% were A*-A, and 98.7% were A*-B.
From 2014 to 2021, a total of 208 leavers successfully secured a place in Oxbridge, including 129 going on to Cambridge and 79 going on to Oxford.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Apart from weekly co-curricular time, there are also five field days each year ranging from outdoor and expedition training, CCF, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Explorer Scouts to community service, drama, music and mountaineering.
RGS has also established a reputation in sports ranging from fencing and judo, to sailing and shooting.
Facilities
The Sixth Form Centre provides a purpose-built facility for Sixth Formers such as a locker area, a work area, a computer room and a relaxing common room with daily newspapers and magazines.
Students can also benefit from outstanding sport facilities, for example, Sports Hall, gym, shooting range, astro pitch and climbing wall.
